Medium & Larger format Film Cameras
Used medium format film cameras
Medium format film gives you a much larger negative than 35mm, with more detail, smooth tonal transitions and a look that is hard to match. This collection brings together used cameras for 120 roll film, from simple folding cameras to complete SLR systems.
- Twin-lens reflex (TLR) cameras such as the Yashica Mat 124 G, Yashica A, Rolleicord and Rollei Magic
- Affordable TLRs from Lubitel, including the Lubitel 2 and Lubitel 166 Universal
- 645 SLR systems from Mamiya and Pentax, such as the Mamiya M645 and Pentax 645N, often as a kit with extra lenses
- Classic folding cameras like the Zeiss Ikon Nettar and Agfa Isolette III
- Film inserts and accessories for the Mamiya 645 system
Frequently asked questions
What film do these cameras use?
Most cameras in this collection use 120 roll film, which is still widely available in color and black and white.
Is a TLR a good first medium format camera?
Yes. A TLR is simple to use, has a large waist-level viewfinder and takes square 6x6 photos, usually 12 per roll. The Lubitel and Yashica models are popular starting points.
What is the difference between 6x6 and 645?
A 6x6 camera makes square negatives, 12 per roll of 120 film. A 645 camera such as the Mamiya M645 or Pentax 645N makes rectangular negatives and fits 15 frames on the same roll.
